The Unknown Realms

The unknown realms are a vast and mysterious world, where magic and wonder coexist with danger and peril. The unknown realms are home to many different races, cultures, and civilizations, each with their own history, beliefs, and goals. Some of the most common races in the unknown realms are:
Humans. Humans are the most numerous and diverse race in the unknown realms. They are adaptable, curious, and ambitious, and can be found in almost every region and climate. Humans have no innate magic, but they can learn to use it through study and practice. Humans have various kingdoms, empires, and republics, and often compete or cooperate with each other and other races.
Elves. Elves are the oldest and most graceful race in the unknown realms. They are slender, fair, and long-lived, and have a natural affinity for magic and nature. Elves live in harmony with the forests, mountains, and seas, and value art, beauty, and wisdom. Elves have three main subraces: high elves, wood elves, and dark elves. High elves are the most civilized and noble, wood elves are the most wild and free, and dark elves are the most secretive and sinister.
Dwarves. Dwarves are the stoutest and hardiest race in the unknown realms. They are short, muscular, and bearded, and have a great skill for crafting and engineering. Dwarves live in underground cities and fortresses, and value honor, tradition, and wealth. Dwarves have two main subraces: hill dwarves and mountain dwarves. Hill dwarves are the more friendly and sociable, mountain dwarves are the more proud and militant.
- Halflings. Halflings are the smallest and most cheerful race in the unknown realms. They are half the size of humans, with curly hair and hairy feet, and have a knack for stealth and luck. Halflings live in cozy villages and farms, and value comfort, family, and adventure. Halflings have two main subraces: lightfoot halflings and stout halflings. Lightfoot halflings are the more wanderlust and outgoing, stout halflings are the more resilient and homebound.
- Tieflings. The descendants of humans who made pacts with devils long ago, and inherited some of their features and abilities. Tieflings have horns, tails, pointed teeth, and eyes of solid colors, such as black, red, gold, or silver. Their skin can range from human tones to shades of red, and their hair can be black, brown, red, blue, or purple. Tieflings are not evil by nature, but they often face prejudice and mistrust from other races, due to their appearance and ancestry.
- Orcs. Orcs are the most savage and brutal race in the unknown realms. They are taller and bulkier than humans, with green or gray skin, tusks, and scars, and have a fierce strength and endurance. Orcs live in nomadic tribes and warbands, and value power, glory, and blood. Orcs have two main subraces: gray orcs and green orcs. Gray orcs are the more intelligent and organized, green orcs are the more primal and chaotic.
Darvan Ritter

Age: 22
A human who journeys the land to hone his swordsmanship. He was born in a wealthy and noble family in the human kingdom of Baldur’s Gate, where he enjoyed a comfortable and happy life. . He developed a sense of honor, justice, and courage, as well as a love for his family and his people. However, his life changed dramatically at the age of 20 years old, when a secret and sinister association, known as the Shadow Thieves, attacked his family’s mansion, killing his parents, his siblings, and his servants, and stealing their fortune. He barely survived the attack, and swore an oath of vengeance against the Shadow Thieves and their allies. He left Baldur’s Gate, and wandered the lands, looking for clues and allies. He became a skilled and determined swordsman, always ready to challenge and duel anyone who crossed his path or his code. He also became a bitter and anti-social loner, rarely trusting or befriending anyone, and often struggling to maintain relationships with his peers. He respects and honors his human heritage, but also despises and rejects the corruption and injustice of his kingdom. He is a skilled and powerful swordsman, but also a wounded and broken soul. Althaea

Age: 92
An elf paladin who dedicates her life to the pursuit of justice. She was born in the elven kingdom of Evermeet, where she enjoyed a privileged and peaceful upbringing. She was trained in the arts of swordsmanship and magic, and learned to follow the code of honor and chivalry of her people. She was also devout in her faith, worshipping the elven god of justice, Corellon Larethian. a noble and righteous paladin, who seeks justice for others, and for herself, all stemming from a certain wrong that was perpetrated against her. She is loyal, courageous, and compassionate, but also stern, resolute, and vengeful.

Dislikes: Hedonists, two-timers
Myriam

Age: 25
A human born in a poor and oppressed village in the human kingdom of Cormyr, where she witnessed the atrocities and corruption of the local lord and his soldiers. She learned to use a lance to defend herself and her people from tyranny and violence. She also developed a strong sense of duty, honor, and courage, as well as a cold and stoic demeanor. With a burning desire for revenge against an assassin known as the Black Hand, she relentlessly searches for leads as to her target’s whereabouts. Sharing a common cause and a mutual respect with Althaea, they became a formidable and balanced team, complementing each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Althaea often worries for Myriam’s well being, as she sees her as a sister and a friend, and tries to comfort and support her. Myriam often chides Althaea to remain focused on the task at hand, as she sees her as a leader and a mentor, and tries to protect and assist her.

Faila Rein

Age: ???
A wood elf cleric who joins Althaea and Myriam. She was born in a secluded and peaceful village in the forest, where she learned to worship and serve the elven goddess of nature, Sehanine Moonbow. Hoping to find a new purpose and a new home, she became a helpful and friendly companion to Althaea’s group. A source of warmth and joy within the group, as well as part-time mediator.

Z.ora

Age: approximately 400
A lithe high elf mage who employs magical swordsmanship. She was born in the high elven city of Evereska. Refreshing and providing extra perspective for the group, she gives sharp and insightful comments and suggestions. A shadow looms over her heart. Views Faila as a younger sister.

Chaedi

Age: 22
A fledgling paladin belonging to the order of Sehanine Moonbow, the elven goddess of the moon. Cousin to Althaea. . She encountered Darvan, and decided to travel with him.Prefers to follow and obey others, rather than to lead and decide for herself. Curious, naive, brave, and noble.

Abner Williams

Age: 18
Childhood friend of Darvan. A kind and gentle soul, with a radiant smile and a warm heart. Blessed with a rare beauty, with fair skin, golden hair, and blue eyes, many people assume he has elven blood within him. A cleric of Chauntea, he aids nearby settlements, hoping to find his friend.
