A rare and elite group of elven wizards who practice the art of bladesinging, a unique form of combat that utilizes the bladesong, enhancing their agility, defense, and spellcasting, in order to fight with grace and power. Bladesingers are highly respected and revered by their fellow elves, as they embody the perfect balance between artistry and guardianship. They dedicate their lives to protecting the elven people and lands, as well as promoting their culture and values.

The origin of bladesinging is shrouded in mystery, but some legends speak of a bygone empire, called the Zorid kingdom which created a special order of arcane warriors, who wielded swords infused with magic. These warriors were called Bladesingers.

Bladesingers are not only warriors, but also artists. They saw their bladesong as a form of expression, and each swordsman developed their own style and signature moves. They also adorned themselves with tattoos, jewelry, and clothing that reflected their personality and preferences. They valued beauty, elegance, and grace, and strove to make their bladesong a spectacle to behold.

The warriors were loyal to the empire, and followed the orders of their rulers without question. They believed that they were the superior elven race, and that their bladesong was the ultimate manifestation of elven magic. They looked down on the other elven factions, and considered them unworthy of their respect or mercy. They also despised the other races, especially the humans, who they saw as barbaric and inferior.

While instrumental in the Zorid empire’s conquests, they also contributed to its downfall. Their arrogance and cruelty provoked the wrath of the other elven realms, who united against them. The Zorid Empire was eventually defeated and destroyed, and the bladesingers hunted down and killed. The art of bladesinging was almost lost, and became a taboo among the elves..

Revival

Bladesinging was not completely forgotten, however. Some of the surviving swordsmen fled to other elven lands, and passed on their knowledge to a few select students. These students, in turn, taught others, and so the tradition of bladesinging was preserved, albeit in a hidden and secretive manner. Over time, bladesinging underwent many changes, as different elven cultures and regions adapted it to their own needs and values. Bladesinging also became more diverse, as different bladesingers experimented with different weapons, spells, and styles. Eventually, the art was once again embraced by all

The Bladesong

Bladesinging is a complex and demanding art, that requires both physical and mental discipline. Bladesingers must be proficient in both swordsmanship and spellcasting, and be able to combine them seamlessly and harmoniously. Bladesingers must also be able to perform their bladesong, a special technique that enhances their abilities and unleashes their magic.

Bladesingers are usually wizards, as they have the most affinity and flexibility with arcane magic. However, some bladesingers are also sorcerers, bards, or even warlocks, who use their innate or granted magic to fuel their bladesong. Bladesingers can also multiclass with other martial or spellcasting classes, to gain additional skills and options.

Bladesingers favor light and elegant weapons, such as rapiers, scimitars, or shortswords, that allow them to strike quickly and precisely. Bladesingers also wear light or no armor, relying on their bladesong and their spells to protect them from harm. Bladesingers also carry a spellbook, where they record their spells and their bladesong techniques.

Bladesingers learn their art from a master, who teaches them the basics and the secrets of bladesinging. Bladesingers also learn from their own experience and experimentation, as they develop their own style and preferences. Bladesingers often belong to a school or a lodge, where they share their knowledge and skills with other bladesingers. Bladesingers also have a bond with their weapon, which they treat with respect and care.

Bladesingers use their bladesong to enhance their combat and spellcasting abilities. Bladesong is a state of mind and body, where the bladesinger attunes their weapon, their magic, and their senses to a single purpose. While in bladesong, the bladesinger gains the following benefits:

• The bladesinger gains a bonus to their concentration checks equal to their Intelligence modifier.
• The bladesinger gains a bonus to their speed of 10 feet.
• The bladesinger can use a bonus action to make a melee weapon attack with their weapon, after casting a cantrip with their action.

Bladesong also allows the bladesinger to cast spells with their weapon as a spellcasting focus, and to use their weapon as a component for somatic spells. Bladesong also enhances the effects of certain spells, such as green-flame blade, booming blade, or steel wind strike.

Bladesingers can also learn bladespells, special spells that are rumored to be exclusive to bladesingers, requiring bladesong to be cast.
