Sennet-

” That’s correct.”
” Why was I even summoned to such a high ranking official’s office? It doesn’t help that it’s the general that specifically oversees our nation’s interior resources.” “In other words, with a single word, she can decide my entire career.”
Friya-
” I’m sure you’re wondering why you were called here to talk to me.”
“Well, to be transparent, it’s because you’re going to be given squad command.”
Sennet- 
“….
“I’m not sure I understand..”
“Why am I being given a leadership position?”
Friya-
” We feel that you have the makings of one who can reliably guide a group of various ability sets and personalities to a common goal.”
Sennet-
” But..Again, I’ve done nothing of note.”
“Sure I’ve been present during several conflicts against Elmwood but, I’ve yet to even slay an enemy, “

-Friya leans over the desk towards Sennet
Friya-

“I believe that’s a term you’re familiar with.”
Sennet-
” D-divine favor..?”
Friya-
“Exactly.”
“To be honest, there has been an increase in calls to transfer as many soldiers as possible to the R&D department for one of Lady Natasha’s trial experiments.”
Sennet-
“They’re letting her run another experiment on our soldiers!?”
Friya-
” I’m afraid so. ”
” While there has come a growing level of dissension in the ranks regarding the R&D department’s free reign to allocate whatever and whoever they deem necessary for their studies, the king has issued and exemption for soldiers who hold a command position.”
“Upon the batches of soldiers they’ve already designated for intention to put into the research program, your name was among them, due to your lack of prominent feats or accomplishments.”
Sennet- 
” So you mean..I’ll be transferred over there out of my unit?”
Friya-
” It will take place within a month. However, if you were to be given squad command, and shown to have a proof of combat record while in such a position, you would be safe.”
Sennet-
“…I understand then.”
“So I’m being given a chance to avoid turning into one of their guinea pigs.”

” Let’s sign some of these forms, and then I’ll guide you to your new barracks”

-Sennet walks with Friya down the languid halls of Lancaster
Sennet-
“..This is my first time interacting with Lady Friya.”
“While it’s not the best of circumstances..Guess it could be worse.”

“There’s also something that bothers me about this entire thing..”

-Within the barracks, a group of individuals are gathered, alerted to the presence of the two new entrants

” Everyone, this will be your squad leader, Sennet Mercer.”
“Sennet, welcome to your current roster.”
Friya-
” State your full name and specialty, so your commander can become familiar with your skillset.”

” Sherrod Wagner. Light infantry.”

“Joan Simpson. Cavalier”

” Immith Harrand. Light infantry.”

-There is a brief pause, as the only one left to speak finally realizes it’s her turn
Henrietta-
“Henrietta. Mage infantry”
Immith- ” That’s not a real classification.”
Henrietta- ” Oh, then just mage I guess.”
Friya-
” Sennet has fought in several major battles in our nations recent batch of skirmishes, which is what has given him this ascension to the rank of squad command.”
“I pray that all 8 of you meet our king’s expectations. I will be in contact with you later Sennet. For now, make yourself comfortable.”
Sennet-
“..Understood. Thank you.”
-Once Friya leaves the barracks,
Sennet-
” Well this is awkward.” “I’ve never seen these sorts of people within the military, save for the cavalier.”
” So, do any of you know each other before the formation of the squad?”
Immith-
” I believe we’re all strangers here.” “I feel as though I’ve faintly heard mention of your name, but only for clerical data regarding some of the past battles we’ve had with Elmwood.”
Sennet-
” Clerical data…So you worked in a secton that was more about paperwork and secret channels.”
Immith-
“..You could say that.”
“I was brought here becau-!!!!!”
-The distinct noise of a sword being held, prepared to draw can be heard, alerting everyone
-Across from Sennet, stands one of his newly appointed subordinates.
Uryu-
“…. “Draw your weapon.”
