Uryu-

“….

“Draw your weapon.”

Sennet–

“What’s his deal???”

Uryu-

“..I suppose you were going to start prattling off about how things will be fine under your leadership, and all the other standard trash someone says when they’re thrust into a position of leadership.”

” I’ll be the one to tell you right now. I have zero intention of following some guy who’s just trying to keep himself clear of the R&D department.”

Sennet- ” Wait, how did you know about that?”

Immith — ” We were all transferred into this unit, being notified that our squad leader would be a man trying to avoid being sent into clinical trials “

– “….

-Sennet feels a prod on his shoulder

Henrietta– ” Hey boss?”

Sennet— ” ????? Huh?”

Henrietta- “Can I go nap?”

Sennet— ” U-uh,…Yea.. dismissed.”

Henrietta-

” Niccce. Lemme know when we roll out”

Sennet– ” …Sure… “

-Distracted by his odd subordinate, Sennet fails to hear the advance of Uryu,

Uryu-

” You think this is a joke?”

” Maybe a cut to the face will help you realize-“

!?

Immith-

-As Uryu’s blade reaches towards Sennet’s face, there is a sudden clash of blades

–

“…Interesting..”

-A girl wielding a curved blade appears , having deflected Uryu’s slash

Sennet- “There was someone else in here!?”

Uryu—

” What the- Where’d she come from? Is she part of our unit??”

-The girl turns around towards Sennet

–

“Greetings commander. I am Rei, your adjutant. “

Sennet— ” I get an adjutant?”

Rei-

” That is correct. Seeing as the barracks are divided according to gender, I will aid in mustering our team within the women’s quarters.”

“For instance, mage Henrietta is currently napping on the mess hall’s couch.”

“I will move her to her proper resting area.”

Sennet— ” Oh, well..pleased to make your acquaintan- ”

” She already walked away…”

Joan-

“Great. A team full of weirdos led by some putz”

Uryu- “…

Joan- “Hey, your name’s Uryu, right?”

“If you’re done being an embarrassment, you should go stock up on recovery items before we’re deployed.”

Uryu— “…Tch, sure.”

-Uryu stows away his sword, skulking over towards the men’s quarters

Joan-

” I’m gonna go check on the stables for our unit. Gimme a ring if you need me CO”

-People begin to file out, taking care of their own interests, save for Sennet and Immith

Immith-

” You look a bit shaken. You were expecting a more typical squad?”

Sennet-

” Honestly, yea.”

“What kind of grouping is this supposed to be anyway?”

– ” One that can handle a variety of situations.”

Sennet-

“Has he been here the whole time? He didn’t state his name earlier with the others.”

Carmine- “Carmine Sanders, shock trooper.”

“I’ve been in a unit like this once or twice, so if you need any pointers, feel free to talk with me.”

Immith-

“What does he mean he’s been in this situation before..?”

Within Friya’s office,

Friya-

” I take that you’ve settled into your new quarters?”

Sennet-

” I’ve relocated my belongings, not that I really had much outside of my combat gear. I didn’t really need such a large room.”

Friya-

“It slipped my mind that you’ve most likely never seen the interior of a commanding officer’s accomodations before.”

“We tend to give our leaders ample room to store whatever they find appropriate for work, as well as whatever company they require.”

“You seem rather tense too. Was Rei too forceful in relaying my summons to you?”

Sennet- ” No, no, not at all,”

“If anything, its her almost demeanor that bothers me more.” “I can’t put my finger on it quite yet, but..”

Friya-

” I have the details of your first mission.”

“We require some cleanup within the __Ashflower forest__ “

“It’s a patch of land across our main river and towards the mountain range “

“We’ve been experiencing more trouble than usual within the area, with a number of our lumber makers disappearing within the area.”

Sennet- ” Is it the elven tribes?”

Friya-

“We believed so at first, however, the location of the attacks hasn’t matched up with any of the established sectors that the elves are most adamant over protecting.”

“We actually finished settling an agreement with them not long ago that would allow us to do approved deforestation within Ashflower, on the grounds that we take care to allow the land to be properly restored by their druids.”

” At the same time, none of their spokespeople have made any sort of report to us about any other group within the forest.”

” What do you think this could mean, from an analytical point of view?”

Sennet-

” Well, is it just our woodcutters who have been vanishing?”

Friya-

“Actually, when we sent a few scouts to investigate the matter, they failed to find any conclusive evidence of anything save for what seemed like…Woodcutting being performed that wasn’t documented by our labor teams.”

” In other words, it’s some other group collecting wood from Ashflower”

Sennet-

” The elves would be telling the truth then, at least…partially I’d think.” “It’s not them , but, if someone else is cutting down trees there then they have to be aware of it.”

Friya-

” That is where your team comes in.”

“Investigate the area thoroughly, and see if you can make heads or tails of what’s going on.”
“You’ll be supplied with a team of horses, as well as adequate supplies for an elongated stay there within the wilds.”

Sennet-

” Shouldn’t we have a larger group if we’re going up against unknowns?”

Friya—

” We actually have one of our top agents already there.”

“He goes by the name Westfall.”

“He was given a small team to set up a forward intel base there.”

” Your team will be deploying by tomorrow morning “

Sennet–

” Well, at least there’s that.” ” Let’s see what’s waiting for us in Ashflower forest..”
