• Gaining physical or mental traits, skills, or powers of the form they assume, such as enhanced strength, speed, senses, or magic.
• Accessing different forms of movement, such as flying, swimming, burrowing, or climbing.
• Adapting to different environments, such as extreme temperatures, pressures, or atmospheres.
• Healing or regenerating from injuries or diseases by changing their form.

Some common limitations or drawbacks that shapeshifters may face are:

• Having a limited number, duration, or frequency of transformations, either per day, per session, or per scenario.
• Requiring a specific trigger, condition, or resource to initiate or maintain a transformation, such as a full moon, a blood sample, a magic item, or a spell slot.
• Suffering physical or mental side effects, such as pain, fatigue, exhaustion, or loss of control, during or after a transformation.
• Being vulnerable to certain attacks, effects, or substances that target or interfere with their shapeshifting ability, such as silver, fire, anti-magic, or detection spells.
• Having a distinctive or recognizable feature, mark, or aura that reveals their true nature or identity, such as a scar, a tattoo, or a glowing eye.

As a player, you can use shapeshifters to create interesting and versatile characters, who can adapt to different situations, explore different perspectives, and express different aspects of their personality. You can also use shapeshifters to create intriguing and complex backstories, motivations, and goals, as well as potential conflicts, secrets, and challenges for your character.

As a GM, you can use shapeshifters to create dynamic and unpredictable NPCs, who can surprise, deceive, ally, or antagonize the players, depending on the circumstances. You can also use shapeshifters to create rich and diverse worlds, cultures, and histories, as well as compelling and immersive plots, mysteries, and twists.
