In the heart of the bustling town square, amidst the clamor of merchants and townsfolk, a figure stands out.
Their armor is not the gleaming plate of a castle knight, but a patchwork of leather and metal, much like the scarecrows that watch over their fields. A well-used scythe, normally a tool of peaceful harvest, is slung over their shoulder, its edge as keen as any sword. Their helm is an open-faced farmer’s hat, providing shade from the harsh sun.
Their hands, toughened by years of toil, grip the handle of their weapon with an ease that speaks of long familiarity. A cloak, dyed in the deep green of lush fields, is clasped around their shoulders, fluttering gently in the breeze. Despite the incongruity of their appearance, there is an undeniable air of nobility about them.
Fighter: Harvest Knight
The Harvest Knight is a subclass of Fighter, drawing on the experiences of a life spent in agriculture to fuel their abilities. They are as sturdy as the oaks they’ve chopped for firewood, and as relentless as the seasons.
Farmer’s Resilience
At 3rd level, a Harvest Knight gains a bonus to saving throws against poison and disease. Life on the farm exposes one to all manner of natural hardships, and you’ve become hardy as a result.
Plowshare to Sword
Also at 3rd level, you’ve learned to use the tools of your trade (such as scythes, pitchforks, and flails) as weapons. You gain proficiency with improvised weapons, and deal extra damage with them equal to your Strength modifier.
Seasoned Warrior
At 7th level, your fighting style changes with the seasons. At the start of each day, choose one of the following benefits:
- Spring: You regain extra hit points from Hit Dice spent during short rests.
- Summer: You gain resistance to fire damage.
- Autumn: You can reroll a failed saving throw once per short rest.
- Winter: You gain resistance to cold damage.
Bountiful Harvest
At 10th level, you can spend one action to survey the battlefield and find the most opportune targets. For one minute, your attacks deal an extra 1d6 damage to enemies that are below their maximum hit points.
Weathered Veteran
At 15th level, your long days of labor under the sun or in the freezing cold have toughened you. You gain resistance to extreme weather, and you cannot be exhausted by forced marches.
King of the Crop
At 18th level, your connection to the land reaches its peak. Once per long rest, you can call upon the spirits of the harvest to heal your allies. Each creature of your choice that you can see within 30 feet regains hit points equal to 2d8 + your Fighter level.
