Excellent — let’s rerun with the full vampire durability intact: the Mistress resists bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.

That means our samurai’s katanas only deal half damage unless they’ve obtained magical steel (unlikely at this peasant-protection tier). This will drastically tilt the fight.


🏯 Setup (Revised)

Party: The Seven Samurai (Lvl 3–7 Fighters, as before)

  • Armed with masterwork katanas (nonmagical).
  • AC range: 15–18.
  • HP range: 31–65.

Enemy: The Mistress (Base Vampire, CR 13)

  • AC 16, HP 144.
  • Regeneration 20/round.
  • Resistance: Half damage from all their weapon strikes.
  • Charm, Bite, Legendary Resistances (3), Misty Escape.

⚔️ Simulation with Resistances

Round 1

  • Mistress: Opens with Charm on the Brash Youth — fails save, becomes charmed. He lowers his sword.
  • Samurai:
    • Leader, Veteran, and Stoic Master strike — but all damage halved (total 15 after reductions).
    • Trickster grazes (3 dmg after reduction).
    • Elder misses.
    • Idealist hits for 4 dmg after reduction.

Mistress laughs, barely scratched. HP ~125 after regen.


Round 2

  • Mistress: Grapples and Bites Stoic Master (20 dmg, HP max reduced by 7).
  • Samurai:
    • Leader crits — but still only 11 dmg after resistance.
    • Veteran and Trickster land cuts (8 dmg combined).
    • Elder strikes weakly (3 dmg).
    • Idealist misses.
    • Brash Youth remains charmed, refusing to fight.

Mistress regenerates. Back to ~135 HP.


Round 3

  • Mistress: Summons children of the night (a swarm of bats floods in, distracting the samurai).
  • Samurai: Attacks slowed by the bats. Total effective damage only 14 after reductions.
  • Mistress: Regenerates fully back to 144 HP.

At this point the samurai realize their swords barely harm her.


Round 4

  • Mistress: Turns her charm on the Elder (fails save). He sheathes his sword and bows to her.
  • Remaining Samurai: Fight desperately. Total damage this round ~12 after reductions.

Mistress regenerates back to full again.


Round 5

  • Mistress: Bites the Idealist (19 necrotic, HP reduced). He screams and staggers.
  • Samurai: Leader and Veteran are still pressing, but only chip away.

Mistress is fully regenerating each round — their combined halved damage can’t keep pace.


📉 Conclusion

Without magical weapons, the samurai cannot overcome her regeneration + resistance. Their katanas bite into her flesh, but wounds close instantly.

  • By Round 7–8, the Brash Youth and Elder are fully enthralled.
  • The Idealist collapses from blood loss.
  • The Leader and Stoic Master fight to the end but are drained in sequence.
  • The Trickster attempts to flee — but the Mistress pursues and breaks him as well.

End State

The Mistress wins decisively, claiming the samurai one by one.

  • She enthralls 3 (Brash Youth, Elder, Trickster).
  • 2 are slain (Idealist, Veteran).
  • 2 fight to the bitter end (Leader, Stoic Master).

Her brood grows stronger — the Crimson Samurai are born in this version.
